"Comfort Zone"

What is "Comfort Zone"? Is it just being happy in the place that a person is? Is it just being satisfied? Or is it an euphemism for aversion to change or inertia? Lately this word has been thrown into my face by many a people to mean a lot of different things. Some examples:
* I don't want to change my job right now because I am in a comfort zone at my company.
* I don't want to break-up with my boy/girl friend because I don't want to get out of my comfort zone.
* I don't want to move out of 'xyz' place because I don't want to get out my comfort zone.
According to me it just means maintaining the "status quo" because people are too afraid of the unknown. A lot many companies go broke because they cannot get out of their comfort zones. According to Andy Grove "Only the paranoid survive", well clearly a paranoid person is not in his/her comfort zone. I believe that a lot many people miss their chance, lose out on a potential good opportunity, lose out on a potential good partner because they cannot get out of their comfort zones.
While I was thinking of this I remembered a quote from a hindi movie. It goes something like this: "Parampara, Pratistha aur Anushasan is school ke teen stambh hai" ergo "Tradition, Prestige and Discipline are 3 pillars on which this school stands". As I was thinking some more, isn't tradition just a really long running ritual performed by people in their comfort zones.
I started this blog for communicating with everyone the importance of experience. I think comfort zone is one of those things which prevent a person from experiencing more. I urge for anyone reading this blog to think long and hard and make choices based on realizing the full potential of their lives rather than staying in their comfort zones. Adios. Take Care.
